An update to the officially licensed Sonic Roblox game, Sonic Speed Simulator, adds Knuckles the Echidna, a new Sonic skin, and more.
Roblox is a platform for creating and sharing original and fan-made creations on the internet. It has a huge library of user-submitted games that try something new or give an existing property a spin. This includes huge franchises like Dragon Ball Z have many Roblox fan games available to play, all with their own playstyles. However, it is very rare for a triple A franchise to officially license any of these games, with Sonic Speed Simulator being one of those exceptions.
Sonic Speed Simulator is the result of a partnership between Sega of America and Roblox developer Gamefam, this game being free. It is an open-world multiplayer experience where players can roam four different areas inspired by the series. There are also RPG-like elements introduced in this game, with these mechanics helping to level up a character as they go through levels. Players have the choice of using either their Roblox avatars or Sonic and his friends to move around the place giving it a great feeling of feeling like a triple-A Sonic title, although it is only in Roblox.
The developers behind it Roblox game have announced that there will be a bunch of new content coming to the game, such as Sonic bosses and levels in a future update. However, one of the latest game updates has already added a bunch of new content, some of them cosmetic, some of them related to game mechanics and systems.
The most notable of these is the addition of Knuckles the Echidna as a playable character, where he plays similar to the other avatars available in the game. The other inclusion is a Sonic Riders-Sonic inspired skin, which gives the blue hedgehog his sunglasses and shoes from the hoverboard racing game series. This skin can be claimed by entering the code “Riders” in-game, upon which they will claim this unique skin.
The update also gives players a chance to get a Chao pet available for a limited time from the Sonic series, which can further evolve into a Mega Chao. There is also a new racetrack, a world and many free rewards which will be granted thanks to the number of likes which have been distributed to Sonic Speed Simulator. The developers state that fans should expect more as the game will also be updated weekly.
Roblox is available now on PC, Xbox One and mobile devices.
