New Fortnite Liferun game mode to debut at PAX South with DrLupo

Fortnite is getting a new custom game mode.

Epic Games is launching “Liferun” at PAX Arena at PAX South in San Antonio on January 18th. That’s when fans will have the chance to join the Overwatch League pros on “Liferun” missions during PAX Pro-Am. From 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. CST, the Houston Outlaws roster, including Shan “Rawkus” Flaherty and Dante “Danteh” Cruz, will participate in the special debut.

Big Twitch streamers will also be testing the all-new Creative Mode game at PAX South, including DrLupo. He will be joined by ONE_shot_GURL and Lachlan on stage as they live stream their efforts on Sunday, January 19 at 10 a.m.

“Liferun” is a personalized game mode produced in partnership with the International Red Cross. Unlike most Fortnite game modes, this competition aims to save as many lives as possible. Fortnite players will take on the duties of an international Red Cross hero “running around the world in four real life missions to save lives instead of taking them,” the official press release reads.

The mode was created by Team Evolve, the creators of Creative Showdown and the Zone Wars playlist.

Liferun flees before PAX South

Like everything else in Fortnite, the game mode was leaked before PAX South. Photos revealed on Reddit show players boarding a helicopter at the start of the game, which will ultimately drop them onto the map. A second leaked photo shows a player running towards an area where it appears someone is saying “this way”. She has some sort of bandage gun in her hand, which will likely come into play when rescuing people all over the map.

The latest leaked photo shows players jumping in buggies. It’s unclear how these vehicles will come into play, but the photo shows a few checkpoints on the map, most likely indicating injured people. Players may need to run to these areas first in order to help the injured victim before anyone else.

It’s still unclear what the full details of “Lifeline” entail, nor is it known to the general public how long the game will stay in the game as an LTM. If past events are any indicator, he will most likely be available for a few weeks from his PAX South debut.
