Today, Microsoft’s official Twitter account teases a new augmented reality Minecraft game, which he will reveal later this month on May 17 on Minecraft.net. As of yet, no further details have been disclosed, but there is a brief teaser video that shows an experience that essentially looks like Minecraft Come on, that is, it looks a lot Pokémon Go, Niantic’s incredibly popular AR mobile game. Like Pokémon Go, this new Minecraft the experience will be played on mobile devices, or at least that’s what the teaser video seems to confirm.

Given the massive success of Pokémon Go, it’s no surprise that Microsoft wants to enjoy the AR mobile experience. And when we consider that Minecraft is the best-selling game of all time, it’s probably one of the best-suited IPs to get the Pokémon Go processing.

That said, it’s worth pointing out that the game might not be that similar to Pokémon Go. In other words, just because this new Minecraft the experience looks like Pokémon Go, does not mean that it will be that or even so similar to that. After all, the two franchises are very different from each other. Fortunately, we don’t have to wait very long to find out, as May 17th is only 11 days away.

Anyway, as always, feel free to leave a comment or two or three to let us know what you think or, alternatively, hit me up on Twitter. @Tyler_Fischer_ and keep me posted there. Would you be interested in a Minecraft go type of game?
